USDC

USDC is a stablecoin issued by regulated affiliates of Circle and redeemable one-for-one for US dollars. It is the asset the machine-payment rails name for stablecoin settlement, and a payment quote identifies it by contract address on a stated network rather than by its name.

Circle publishes the terms it is issued on: backed by cash and cash-equivalent reserves held against the amount in circulation, redeemable one-for-one for US dollars, and issued by regulated affiliates. Its own page also lists the blockchains it is native to. The reserve composition and that list are Circle's to state and are linked here rather than restated, because both change and a link re-reads itself.

In a payment quote the token is an address rather than a word. An accepts array entry names the asset contract together with the network, so a client checks that it holds the right token on the right chain. The same name on a different network is a different asset as far as settlement is concerned.

→ probe402 records the asset contract and network each tracked endpoint quoted — open an endpoint from the endpoint list.
